The journey to create The Legacy started three generations ago. Inspired by the great producers of Bordeaux, and with a vision to craft world-class Cabernet Sauvignon, the Taylor family began an exploration to find the perfect plot of land on which to establish their family estate. On July 20, 1969, their quest brought them to a site in South Australia's Clare Valley.
One of the oldest family wineries in the Clare Valley, Taylors have been crafting award winning wines for over 50 years. Bill Taylor Snr. and his sons Bill and John founded the estate and today, the third generation led by Mitchell, Justin and Clinton continue the legacy of their father and grandfather.
With each successive vintage the family honed their craft. Then in anticipation of the 50th anniversary, the Taylor brothers briefed Chief Winemaker, Adam Eggins on a special project to create a wine to embody the winery’s founding vision. In consultation with the family, Adam planned a new world Cabernet Sauvignon inspired by the great wines of the old world that would become a true family legacy.
Fifty years and three generations on Taylors “The Legacy” was born. Only 1080 bottles of this exceptional 2014 vintage were released. This wine combines select parcels from the Taylors estate with masterful blending to achieve perfect balance. Matured in fine French oak, the wine shows harmony, complexity, line and length. This unique wine is the result of experience, patience and the never-ending pursuit of perfection.
